A train of 12 brand new barges, with the latest technology available, used to transport bulk cargoes (iron ore, grains, fertilizers, etc.) in the Hidrovias Paraná Paraguay, is under construction, with a view to its implementation in the second quarter of 2025.
Once operational, the barge train will be able to transport 36,000 tonnes of cargo.
Construction of the train began on August 1, 2024 at the La Barca del Pescador shipyard, on behalf of Naviera Yerutí SA, a Paraguayan company with extensive experience in barge construction and ship operation.
The vessels will be built according to the latest edition of Lloyds Register of Shipping regulations and with the possibility of installing sliding covers.
On December 6, 2024, the production of the second barge in the series began.
